22 March 2025 - Crocodile River Reserve (CRR)
Together with members of the AGO team, we conducted a morning survey in CRR covering two areas.
Driving to the first section which had limited suitable habitat but had yielded a pair of AGO's in the past, we inadvertently flushed a Black-headed Heron that had caught a really long snake. Unfortunately it flew off into the distance, so we had no real chance to see what it might have been or see it devour its meal

No AGO's in this section, so off to the next section which involved around a 2-hour round trip walk. No AGO's at all, but we did manage a Marsh Owl

A few Zitting Cisticola's were seen relatively close by given we were on foot

We flushed a pair of African Snipe in a marshy area - no photograph. Whilst trying to relocate them a Long-tailed Widowbird came past quite fast with its tail horizontal behind the body
