27 December 2024 - Plett to Colesberg; Day 15
We heavy hearts we departed Plett in the early morning for the long and scenic drive to Colesberg in the Karoo where we would spend the night at our annual overnight stay, the quaint and thoroughly enjoyable Kuilfontein Stable Cottages.
We arrived in the early afternoon, settled in and enjoyed some drinks at the dining area. Later in the afternoon, I had a drive around the farm on the single road and came across a pair of Rufous-eared Warbler which was a real treat, as I had not encountered these on any previous visits to Kuilfontein

This short-tailed Cistic was a little too far to ID, but probably a Zitting

I then parked my Hilux and walked out into the vast plains on this old Stud Farm, finding an obliging and comical Karoo Prinia - they really get animated when you spish

I also came across a pair of Karoo Robin's in the fading light

Back to the restaurant for a decadent pre-ordered meal with a good wine, was a great way to end a long driving day. The chef really does put out some great dishes - really recommended.
