17 December 2024 - Sunera and Lookout Beach, Plett; Day 5
The weather was glorious, so another early morning walk along Lookout Beach, just soaking everything up.
This time, the Oystercatcher was feeding on the beach in the surf zone, trying to get those Snails that make patterns in the sand, out of their shell. It was a challenge and it did succeed with one - but the morning light was great which helped giving some detail in the black plumage

In the late afternoon, I took a drive past Plett Golf Course through some coastal forest going toward Sunera Stud Farm in the hope of tracking down a Woodpecker. No luck whatsoever with the Woodpecker, but I did get a pair of Cape Batis

As well as a very dark female Southern Double-collared Sunbird that is not that well illustrated in some of the field guides

I can slowly feel the stress leaving as this coastal break brings in the soul food we all need
